Drone Practice – Simulator

I’m Goro, the representative of Zenbot.

I’ve been flying radio-controlled helicopters since I was 12 years old. Surpsingly out of all the Zenbot members, I’m actually the worst at piloting them. When I can, I take the time to hone my skills secretly.

The other members of Zenbot are professional drone aerial photography pilots and former All Japan Radio Control Champions, so the hurdles are high…

It’s surprising how many drone company presidents these days have never even flown a drone, but at Zenbot, all of our staff are rigorously hands-on. They are equipped with the skills to assemble the hardware, configure the software, and fly the drone.

The quickest way to hone your drone piloting skills is to practice with an unassisted single rotor helicopter. RC helicopters are usually all manually operated except for the rudder gyro to stabilize the yaw axis, so once you’ve mastered flying an RC helicopter, flying a multicopter that automatically controls attitude will be a piece of cake.

You will never fly a drone for business purposes in manual mode, but if you practice in manual mode on a regular basis, it will make a difference in your ability to respond in an emergency.

To really sharpen your skills I recommend an RC helicopter simulator because you can practice every day if you have a little time, even when the weather is bad.
